Dr. Ryan Dungee

Ryan’s work is focused on developing new approaches to the control systems running adaptive optics (AO) systems. He approaches this from a variety of angles, including the development of machine learning based systems, new techniques to tomographic reconstruction of the wavefront, and the building of new instruments that measure the vertical profile of the atmospheric turbulence.

In the past, Ryan has also furthered our understanding of the spin down of low mass stars, critical for gyrochronology, and studied the abundances of sulfureted molecules in massive young stellar objects.
