Dr. Duy Cuong Nguyen

Duy Cuong Nguyen was a member of the Dunlap Institute through the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE) project. APOGEE is a high-resolution infrared spectroscopic survey of 100,000 stars across the Milky Way, and is one of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) III and IV projects.

Nguyen focuses on the search for and characterization of exoplanets and their hosts, the origin and diversity of planetary systems, and the formation of stars and brown dwarfs.

In addition to research, Nguyen was very active in public outreach, delivering many shows in the U of T planetarium. He was also a member of the team of instructors from U of T that travelled to Nigeria in 2015 to take part in the West Africa International Summer School for Young Astronomers.

Nguyen received his PhD from the University of Toronto, and has held positions at the University of Florida, Stockholm University, and the University of Rochester. He joined the Dunlap Institute in July 2013.
