How Are New Solar Systems Born?

New stars are born in the Milky Way Galaxy every year, but stellar nurseries are veiled by dense clouds of gas and dust. In this What’s Out There Lectures in Astronomy talk organized by the Toronto Public Library, Dr. Rachel Friesen of the Dunlap Institute explains how stars and solar systems form and how astronomers peer into their birth sites using telescopes on earth and in space.
