Dr. Azhar Iqbal

Dr. Azhar Iqbal’s research work focuses on Adaptive Optics (AO) systems and liquid mirrors. He has done ground-breaking work in modelling, design and control of deformable liquid mirrors. Iqbal is currently working on a collaborative engagement led by Professor Suresh Sivanandam at the Dunlap Institute and Professor Zhizheng Wu at Shanghai University. The three researchers are bringing together their respective expertise in order to undertake value-adding research work on astronomical applications of liquid mirrors and AO systems.

Iqbal holds a PhD degree from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, University of Toronto, and Masters in Applied Sciences (MASc) from the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS). He is currently working with the Ontario government as a Program Manager responsible for technology support to the Developmental Services program of the provincial government.
