This summer, the University of Toronto and the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics are holding workshops in collaboration with McMaster University and Trent University for grade 9 — 11 students which aims to provide a hands-on introduction to coding, cutting-edge astrophysics, and answer your questions about university. The event will have:
We will provide computers, transit fares, and lunch to all attendees. To register, please follow the link below corresponding to the camp in your area!
Students in the GTA, Hamilton area, or Peterborough area who will have completed grade 9, 10, or 11 in 2024.
There will be three events, their locations are listed below. Note that the exact location and room information will be distributed to the students attending.
Nothing! This event is completely free! We will provide transit fares, lunch, snacks, and computers to use for the day.
No! Other than taking the standard high school physics and math courses, we will tailor the event to all skill levels.
Due to limited resources, each event will be limited to 30 students. In the case that we have more registrants than available spots, we will be giving priority to students for whom this event would be particularly beneficial. This will be judged on a rubric broadly considering, in no particular order: the applicant's prior access to similar activities; the applicant's demonstrated interest in astronomy and understanding of how this workshop aligns with their personal goals; and whether the applicant will be able to participate in future years (based on grade level). We will contact everyone who registers to inform them if they are selected to attended or not by:
