Jielai Zhang

Jielai Zhang is a fourth year PhD candidate. Her research focuses on galaxy evolution and formation, and on low surface brightness imaging.

Her thesis uses the Dragonfly Telephoto Array. In her work, she combines low surface brightness optical images with radio and UV data to learn about the outskirts of local galaxies and to study disk formation and evolution.

Jielai graduated from the University of Sydney with a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering with honours, and a bachelor’s degree in Science in Physics and Mathematics. She also holds a diploma of Mechanical Engineering from the Imperial College of London.
